Danielle + Lindsay | Blacksburg Engagement Photographer
I knew the moment I met Danielle and Lindsay that they were awesome!! I was so excited when they asked me to be their wedding photographer! From there I began looking forward to their engagement session and they didn’t disappoint! It was fun from beginning to end!
I asked Danielle and Lindsay to share with me how they had met and Lindsay told me, “they say that family knows best, and in our case, she certainly did. Danielle’s sister, Lauren, and I had been friends (and played on the rec league softball team) for over a year prior to us meeting. Apparently throughout that time period, Lauren had been telling Danielle that there was this girl that she had to meet, because she thought that Danielle would really like her. After some time, and begging her to come to her softball game, she finally caved.” Lindsay went on to tell me that she remembered standing in the dugout and hearing girls giggling behind her. She went on to say, “I turned around and it was Lauren, Danielle, and Lauren’s now wife Sarah. After having the weird feeling that they were talking about me, I just turned around, shrugged it off, and went on with the game. After the game, as I was walking up the hill, Danielle came charging across my path and tells me that, “I have the nicest legs she’s ever seen…” at which point, we both proceeded to walk into the bushes that neither of us saw quickly approaching!
After that embarrassing introduction, a Facebook friend request (which went untouched for a week), and another softball game… the rest is history.” Oh my! What an awesome (and funny!) story!!
Danielle and Lindsay began their engagement a little untraditional. They went together to pick out and order their rings and, as far as Lindsay was aware, that was the plan for the event. Lindsay told me that she didn’t know at the time that Daniele had planned a surprise engagement weekend for them in Lexington, Kentucky!
Lindsay shared, “the distilleries along the bourbon trail are some of my favorite places to go, especially Woodford reserve. After touring the distillery, a bourbon tasting, and purchasing our own bottle from the gift shop, we took off through the hills to look at some of the horse farms. Well, in typical rebellious Danielle style, before I even knew what was going on, Danielle had scaled a fence to one of the million dollar horse farms and walked down to a beautiful creek running through it. I apprehensively followed (I actually don’t like to get in trouble). Once I got to the creek, Danielle got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with her. After I said yes, I followed by getting down on one knee and asking the same. …. then we quickly ran back and hopped the fence before someone came along who could arrest us.” Hahahaha! I know you must realize now why I was so excited to work with this couple! Fun? You bet!
Lindsay and Danielle enjoy relaxing when they have time together. The both have pretty intense jobs that require a lot of attention and energy. This means when they get some time off together they love being at home with no distractions! They describe a perfect night as one where they are home together cooking dinner and watching movies. Sounds like a great evening to me! When they do go out they always enjoy VT football and basketball (Go Hokies!), hiking, or traveling. They love the beach and the mountains!
Now that they are engaged and planning their upcoming wedding in August, they are in such a happy place in their relationship. They told me how they worked hard to get to a “place where they were ready to be for quite some time.” They are enjoying this step in building their family together. Lindsay said, “it isn’t a title or a ring. it’s a symbolic tie to another human being that we both cherish and respect very much.” How beautiful!
One of my favorite things to do with an engaged couple is to ask them to tell me the most awesome thing about each other! Here are their responses!
Lindsay described Danielle as “the best of every world. She’s a leader, and a follower when she needs to be; city girl with a country girl side (who can deny that accent) haha; she is gorgeous and likes to dress up, yet looks even better in sweatpants with her hair pulled up; she can be a hard ass, but has such a soft side; she “doesn’t know how to show emotion” as her eyes well up with tears; she is tiny, but so mighty. She is courageous when I don’t know how to be. She fills my gaps and pushes me forward when I forget how to take a step. She is awesome, because she is everything.”
Danielle described Lindsay as “the person who knows what I’m going to say before I even speak. She is fearless. She is quiet and every word she speaks has a deep meaning to it. She is goofy and brilliant (the perfect mix). She is everything I’m not. She is the most caring compassionate person I know. She is the definition of what is means to be beautiful from the inside and out.”
I hope you can tell from this post just how perfect these two are together! Okay! This is absolutely enough from me! How about more photos!!!!???!!!!
