My Favorite Photographs – Post One | Blacksburg Wedding Photographer

Being a photographer is an awesome job. I get to meet so many great people and have many different experiences. I get to photograph people at their homes, at farms, parks, open fields, urban settings, churches, in the forest, at the beach, at a train depot.. the list goes on and on! How awesome to be able to be in so many different places!

I have been doing this so many years and I thought it was about time to begin a series sharing my all time favorite photos and why I like them so much! This is the first of an ongoing series I plan to work on because there are just too many for one post!

The first photo I wanted to share today is of a group of cousins. This session was an absolute blast! The Garst family came together for a big family session which was fun, but I especially enjoyed the way the cousins loved each other. They were so excited to be together and have fun taking photos. This particular photo came after we done the different family shots and the girls wanted to do a “serious” photo. This was completely their idea and I LOVED it! (See the full post from that session here)

The next photo was one from Kerri & Jeff’s wedding at Chateau Morissette Winery in 2015 (see the full post here). While Kerri and Jeff’s wedding turned out to be a beautiful day to remember, it did happen to rain a lot. This can be very upsetting when a couple has in mind these sunny gorgeous days. Well, we made the most of it and had lots of great photos even when we embraced the rain in a few like the one below! Did we “make lemonade out of lemons” or what??!!!

The third photo I wanted to share was one from Charlotte’s High School Senior Session (see the full post here). This session was one I was very excited to do because Charlotte is one of my all time favorite students. I taught her in 6th and 7th grade math classes at Blacksburg Middle School. While her whole session was awesome (be sure to check out the photos!) this was my favorite. Charlotte brought her Cello and I was able to capture some moments with her playing. I loved her genuine smile in this one. It just makes my heart smile :).

The next photo I am going to share today is of Courtney and Sean’s engagement session (see the full post here). They are an adorable couple and I am super excited for their wedding on 6/3/2017! I know it will be awesome! During their session the sun and clouds combined to make for an unreal effect. The sky was gorgeously blue with lumpy clouds and the sun enhanced their faces to give them a glow. As a photographer I the SUPER excited when the weather comes together like this. While I will work with all types of weather, this is my most favorite type of moment. Don’t you think the photograph looks like a movie still? Like it was on a set and couldn’t be real? It was!

The last photo I am going to share today is from Stephanie and Bryan’s engagement session (see the full post here. There were photos from their session that I am going to have to share because they were a creative and fun couple! They brought some of the coolest props along and had so many fun ideas that I got to play with! This photo was them with a bunch of balloons because the movie “Up!” is one of their favorites. It was an ode to one of the sweetest love stories I have ever seen! I still cry when I think about that film!
