I was so happy to hear from Sally again! I had the great fortune of meeting her many years ago when I photographed her sister, Mary Helen’s wedding! I remembered how much fun this whole group was during the wedding so I just knew I was going to have a blast getting to see Sally again and meet her adorable family!
I asked Sally to tell me three words that described her family and she chose, “loving, adventurous, and faithful.” These became even more evident after spending time with them. They were absolutely “loving.” It was so clear how much they each enjoyed being together. Even the siblings clearly loved one another (and that is not always so clear, just check out my own children for evidence of that! Ha!). The were certainly adventurous too! The grass was very overgrown in the area we had chosen and they didn’t skip a beat when considering going off road and into the thick of it! I think it paid off with some awesome photos though! This one is going to be an all-time favorite family photograph for me… check it out and then read the caption to find out why!
I asked Sally what some of the activities she and her family enjoy and this is what she told me, “We have a family river house with a bunch of our in-laws and we love all activities involved- boating, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, sand castle building, playing with cousins, quality time with family- almost every weekend during the summer!” How wonderful is that? I want to be a part of that family fun!!! Wouldn’t you too??
The Lacy family obviously enjoys spending time together and told me that some of their favorite things to do are reading, playing games, swimming, playing outside, and traveling. They were actually travelling when they came back to Blacksburg for a visit! We chose this location for their session because Sally loves the mountains. Her family is from Montgomery and Allegheny counties and the mountains are “in her blood!” She wanted to have mountains in the background because they live near West Point where it is flat! I told her that this sounded like a good spot and she quickly agreed after seeing it!
I asked Sally to tell me a little about each of the members of her family so I could share it with you all. I think it is great to learn about these awesome people, and awesome they truly are! Here is what Sally had to say about her sweet family.
“Matt is an absolute rock and loves his family unconditionally. He’s such an active and loving dad and dedicates himself 200% to everything he cares about, including God, his family, his business, cycling and having fun.
Sophia is so smart, creative and enthusiastic! She’s orderly and relishes her role as the oldest, most responsible of the siblings. Violet is my little free spirit. She laughs at everything and overflows with joy and mischief. She is also incredibly creative and thinks outside of the box. Beau is the sweetest baby ever! He is so happy and smiles so easily. He seems to love how much his sister’s dote on him. I am an adventurous free spirit like Violet and love finding ways to incorporate my wild side into my parenting while also providing the structure that my kids need.”
I think I should get parenting advice from her! After seeing her first and with her kids, I am sure that Sally is one awesome mommy!
