Sarah + John | Richmond Wedding Photographer

Oh my goodness. This was a fun wedding!

We met up with Sarah and John at the Mill and Fine Creek in Powhatan, Virginia for their wedding day. It was such a gorgeous day and the Mill and Fine Creek was a gorgeous place to celebrate it!

Sarah and the girls already looked amazing when we arrived. Island Glow Sunless Studio, Salon and Beauty Bar  did their hair and makeup (https://www.islandglowva.com). Don’t they just look amazing? Sarah’s dress was from Labella Bridal Shop & Boutique and the jacket was made by Marla Deem at Labella Tool. (https://www.labellabridalboutique.com/) It was perfection and Sarah looked stunning!

John and the guys were getting ready nearby. John’s suit was from Jos A Banks (https://www.josbank.com/). He looked so handsome and he was so excited to see Sarah for their first look!

Sarah and John decided to have a first look and it was an emotional moment for the two of them. They are so very much in love and have waited a long time for this day. Sarah and John started dating when they were in elementary school. You read that right! Elementary School!!! These two were meant to be together. There is no doubt! One cute thing Sarah had planned for this moment was to slip John $3. You see, a long long time ago John had given Sarah a composition book when she needed one for a class. She tried to pay him back and he refused the take the $3. Ever since then, Sarah and John have been slipping this same $3 back and forth in creative ways. It was Sarah’s turn and she found the perfect moment!

The Ceremony

The ceremony site was the old ruins of the Fine Creek Mill. What a gorgeous spot and so beautiful for the two of them to share their love for one another. The ceremony was absolute perfection. They even had a bagpiper surprise the guests during the recessional!  J.R. Arthur (https://www.thebash.com/bagpipes/j-r-arthur)

After the ceremony the guests were welcomed into the reception area. Appetizers and drinks were offered in the front area for guests before they entered the main banquet hall.  The main reception area was amazingly decorated.  There were awesome favors too. Sarah told me, “the stemless wine glasses feature the tree of Gondor from Lord of the Rings . This is a favorite movie of ours as well as the movie we watched on our first date. The book, “Man Seeking Woman” by Simon Rich, is a collection of short love stories. The stories aren’t your typical love stories as most of them are comedic and have an unexpected twist. We chose this book because it is one of our favorites to read together.” They also had temporary tattoos of their cats, Max and Floki for the guests! How cool is that? Oh! And another favorite detail: they had a garland of love notes they had passed to each other over the years. How perfect is that?

The food was catered by The Mill and Fine Creek (https://www.themillatfinecreek.com/) and was super delicious! The wedding cake was also made at the Mill and Fine Creek by Chef Peirre Tocco.

The guests danced the night away and had an awesome time! Karl Stallknecht of Pulse Entertainment (www.PulseWeddings.com) Did an awesome time keeping everyone hopping! There was also a fun photo booth from Boardwalk Photo Booth (http://www.boardwalkphotoboothcompany.com/)

I can’t end this post without a quick shout out to Colleen Kimbrough who made the wedding run without a hitch! She’s the best (www.themillatfinecreek.com)

A thanks to the always awesome Sam Pack of Sam Pack Photography for her awesome second shooting! (www.sampackphotography.com)
